THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Federal Bank Managing Director and CEO KVS Manian met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The meeting was held as part of strengthening the partnership between Federal Bank and the state government to ensure Kerala's economic growth and development initiatives. The two discussed issues such as banking, entrepreneurship empowerment, and economic review.
This is the first time that KVS Manian is holding talks with the Chief Minister after assuming office as the bank's MD in September 2024. He also met Industries Minister P. Rajeev.
Federal Bank, headquartered in Kerala, is one of the leading commercial banks in the country. Federal Bank has more than six hundred branches across the state. This accounts for forty percent of its total branches. Non-Resident Indians give primary consideration to Federal Bank for money transactions. It is also noteworthy that the majority of them are Malayalis.
KVS Manian said that he had a constructive discussion with the Chief Minister about the future, keeping in mind the progress of Kerala. For Federal Bank, its growth is also part of Kerala's growth. Success is interconnected. He added that beyond being an ideal banking partner, we are committed to growing with Kerala by being a catalyst for the development and empowerment of the state.
Federal Bank is ensuring active participation in several development and entrepreneurial projects in the state with the aim of supporting local businesses, empowering entrepreneurs, and promoting financial inclusion. Many people have been able to receive job training through the skill development centres started as part of the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. More than 500 people completed the training last year alone. Scholarships are provided to students from economically backward families. 600 cancer patients in the state have been supported through the Sanjeevani scheme. Federal Bank is also an institution in which the International Finance Corporation, the investment arm of the World Bank, has a stake.
Manian presented a portrait of the Chief Minister drawn by Anjan Satheesh, who won the President's Award for Talent among the Disabled. Anjan Satheesh is a gifted painter who has not let hearing impairment and cerebral palsy, which he suffered from in childhood, become a hindrance to his artistic career.
Shiju K. V., the bank's Thiruvananthapuram Zonal Head and Senior Vice President, Kavita K. Nair, Regional Business Head, and Anees Ahmed, Senior Manager, also attended the meeting.
