PATHANAMTHITTA/ CHERTHALA/ KOTTAYAM: A 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her mother’s lover in front of her mother. A woman, brutally beaten by her husband, succumbed to internal bleeding in the hospital. At a nursing college, senior students forcibly stripped juniors, smeared lotion on their bodies, and laughed as the victims cried in pain. They inflicted further injuries, beat them, and even recorded videos of the abuse. Kerala, often praised as "God's Own Country" and a land of literacy, is reeling in horror as new forms of crimes surface daily. Authorities remain indifferent while society is left questioning how to survive in such an environment.

1. A mother and her lover, who had been on the run after sexually assaulting her 13-year-old daughter, were arrested on Thursday. The accused are Jaymon (42) from Ranni, and Deepa (44) from Balaramapuram, Thiruvananthapuram. The assault took place at a lodge in Pathanamthitta in the early hours of September 15 last year. Jaymon allegedly woke the sleeping girl, pulled her off the bed, and sexually assaulted her while Deepa was present in the room. The horrifying incident came to light during a counselling session conducted by the Child Welfare Society.

2. Woman dies from internal bleeding after brutal assault by husband in Cherthala
A major breakthrough in the death of Saji (46) from Pandakashalaparambu, Cherthala, came after her daughter’s testimony. The preliminary post-mortem report revealed head injuries and internal bleeding due to ruptured nerves between the brain and skull. Saji’s husband, Sony (48), who was in custody, confessed to attacking her. Authorities had exhumed the body from a church cemetery following a complaint filed by their daughter, Meeshma.

3. Horrifying visuals of ragging at Kottayam Government Nursing College have surfaced, exposing the inhumane treatment endured by junior students. The main accused, K.P. Rahul Raj, hails from Malappuram and is the state general secretary of the Kerala Government Students’ Nurses Association (KGSNA), a CPM-affiliated student organization. The other accused—Samuel Johnson, N.S. Jeeva, C. Rijil Jith, and N.V. Vivek—are also association members.

The relentless physical abuse, which went on for 4 months, came to light after one of the students revealed the matter to his father. The accused committed this cruelty demanding money for consuming alcohol and using drugs on Sundays.
