Rs 15 lakh looted from Federal Bank, employees held captive

THRISSUR: A daylight robbery in the branch of Federal Bank after holding the employees’ captive. The shocking incident happened at the Federal Bank’s branch at Pota in Chalakudy. Reports said only the manager and an employee were there in the bank at the time of the incident. The others had gone for lunch. The robber had a weapon in his hand. The theft was in the afternoon. The police have reached the spot and an investigation has started.

The employees’ statement is that they were not able to identify the miscreant. Though the depth of the theft is not clear, initial reports said that Rs 15 lakh has been stolen. The employees said money was stolen after threatening with a knife. The theft was after vandalizing the glass of the cash counter with a chair.

The robber came in a two-wheeler. The CCTV has captured the visual of the accused coming to the bank. It is difficult to identify the accused as he was wearing a mask, jacket and a helmet.
