THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A five-year-old boy died after falling into an uncovered well near his house in Nemom on Saturday. Dhruv, son of the Sumesh-Arya couple, died in the incident. It is suspected that the child might have fallen inside while searching for his toy doll. Dhruv suffering from speech impairment made things worse as relatives came to know about the incident only late. The incident happened on Friday evening.

After noticing the missing of her son, Arya went to look at the nearby well and saw the tragic sight. The child, after returning from the nursery yesterday, was playing in the backyard with his two-year-old sister Dhruvika. At the time of the incident, Dhruv’s father, a painting worker was away at work while Arya was busy washing clothes.

The child was left unnoticed in the well for over an hour. A fire force soon came to the spot and took the child out of the well. Despite rushing to Nemom Taluk Hospital, the child’s life could not be saved. Dhruv studied at Sainik Day Pre-Primary School near his home. The child’s doll was also found during the search conducted by the Fire Rescue Service. The body is kept in the Medical College Hospital Mortuary.
