KOZHIKODE: "The Central Waqf Act amendment denies the rights of minorities. No one in the state will be evicted in the name of Waqf," said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was speaking after inaugurating the Kozhikode Divisional Board of the Waqf Board.
"The Central Waqf Act amendment creates the impression that minorities are stealing something. There has been a lot of propaganda that people will be evicted in the name of Waqf. The government will not evict anyone in such a way. Not only that, the government has assured that it will not take away any constitutional right of minorities. The government is repeating that," the Chief Minister clarified.
Speaking at another function in Kozhikode, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that creating a conducive environment for scientific research and study is the declared policy of the state government. "Despite effective interventions for scientific advancement, the scientific temper of the society is not seen to be developing that much. Human sacrifices and other things are happening in the society. The superstitions that cause them are increasing. We should see this as an aspect of the society. Popularization of science is an effective means of raising the scientific temper. We should also be able to take up the arduous task of disseminating science in a way that is accessible to all people, just like popular arts," he said.
