One-month-old baby of Bihar native kidnapped by transgender woman and friend: Kerala police catch human traffickers from north east state red-handed

ALUVA: Assamese duo who kidnapped a one-month-old baby from Aluva have been arrested. Aluva police arrested Rinki (20), a transgender woman from Assam, and her friend Rashidul Haque (29), a native of Nagaon, Assam, after an adventurous investigation of two hours.

A one-month-old baby boy of a Bihar native was kidnapped. The police station received information at around 8 pm on the 14th that the child had been kidnapped and Rs 70,000 had been demanded. The police party then showed the complainant the photos of transgender people from the crime gallery of Aluva East Police Station. The mother identified the kidnapper from the photos.

The police then reached the rented house where Rinki was staying, but she had already escaped with the child. District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena supervised the investigation. Several CCTV cameras were checked. The railway station, bus stand, airport area, district borders, and places where they might have stayed were searched. At 10 pm, the vehicle in which the accused were travelling was stopped near Koratty and the accused were arrested.

The accused had aimed to take the child from Thrissur to Assam. The investigation team consisted of DySP T.R. Rajesh, Inspector M.M. Manju Das, SIs K.Nandakumar, S.S. Sreelal, Seitu Mohammed, B.M. Chithujee, Sujo George Antony, CPOs Shibin.K. Thomas, Rajesh, Shihab, Mohammed Shaheen, Aravind Vijayan, P.A. Naufal, N.A. Mohammed Ameer, Mahin Shah Abubacker, and K.M. Manoj. The accused were produced in court and remanded.
