Six Sabarimala pilgrims injured in car crash; accident at Plappally-Pamba road

PAMBA: Six Sabarimala pilgrims who were returning after darshan were injured after a van crashed into the car near the parking ground in Nilakkal. The injured were identified as Sen (19) of Vellanad Chandravilasam house, Anikkuttan (18) of Kulathungara house, Sayant (18) of Vipitha Bhavan, Mithun (19) of Vaikuntam house, Vipin (30) of Vilappilsala Chevallur, and Anirudh (8). The injured were shifted to Pathanamthitta General Hospital and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital after primary treatment at Nilakkal Hospital.

The accident happened at 10 a.m. yesterday. The van that came out of the parking lot crashed into the back of the car in front. The car lost control and hit the crash barrier on the Plappally-Pamba road. The car was crushed between the van and the crash barrier. The passengers were trapped inside the car, unable to get out. After 45 minutes of efforts by the fire department, all six people were pulled out.
