NEW DELHI: A tragic stampede at Delhi Railway Station has claimed the lives of around 15 people, with several others injured, according to reports. Among the deceased are 11 women, two men, and two children. Rescue operations are underway, with fire and emergency teams, railway officials, and police working at the scene.

The stampede occurred at platforms 13, 14, and 15, where a massive crowd had gathered. Most of the victims were devotees travelling to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Footage from the scene has also surfaced. The railway had arranged two special trains for the Kumbh Mela, and the chaos unfolded when these trains arrived at the station, leading to a surge in crowd movement. Many individuals fell unconscious due to suffocation and panic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have expressed their condolences over the tragedy. Meanwhile, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident. Delhi's Lieutenant Governor has also directed an immediate inquiry and the deployment of additional emergency response teams to manage the situation.
