Actress Honey Rose clarified that she did not raise the sexual harassment complaint with the intention of targeting any individual. She explained that she sought legal help only to counter the inappropriate behaviour she faced on cyber platforms. The actress made these comments in response to certain discussions in Kerala over the past few days, during an interview with a channel.
"I am the person who has faced the most cyberattacks after COVID. I have received extremely inappropriate comments, messages, and videos regarding my body parts. As someone who prefers to live peacefully, I chose to ignore these issues for a long time without causing any trouble. However, I finally decided to respond as I was fed up with such indecent behaviour. I spoke out only because of the support of my loving father, mother, and a few others," she said.
"There has been no complete resolution to the complaint I filed. Many people in the film industry appreciated my decision. Organisations such as AMMA, the Producers' Association, and even party workers supported me. The issues I faced didn’t stem from the film industry. I am a celebrity. These problems arose from society," she added.
"I even reached a point where I had to take antidepressant pills. Despite mentioning in several interviews that I was happy and had no issues, mentally, all of this affected me. When the topic of Boby Chemmanur's harassment came up, I didn’t initially try to file a case. I first tried to understand the issue and prevent it from happening again. But the situation remained the same. That's when I decided to file the complaint. He humiliated me in a public setting, and at that time, I was in no position to respond. After that event, I filed a complaint with the concerned people."
"I have participated in several inauguration functions. Maybe that was the starting point for all these problems. People saw me smiling, and that’s how I presented myself. The complaint I filed was for sexual harassment, but some people tried to neatly settle the issue by turning it into an issue about clothing. Even people who wear decent clothes also face similar issues. The clothes I wear are the ones that suit me. I haven’t had to do any self-reflection about them," she said.
