Brutal ragging in Karyavattom College, says FIR, seven senior students suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Action has been taken against the ragging at Karyavattom Government College. Seven senior students of the college have been suspended. The action was taken on the complaint filed by first-year biotechnology student Bins Jose. The police will register a case after imposing ragging act against the accused students.


The ragging act has not been imposed in the case registered by the Kazhakoottam police on the complaint filed by Bins. The FIR registered said the first-year student was brutally beaten by the seven senior students.


Bins, the victim, had revealed that the senior students tied him up in a room and brutally beat him. He was beaten by SFI workers. He was made to kneel on the ground and then attacked. The accused have been identified as Alan, Velu, Salman, Ananthan Prarthan and Prince. Bins said that when he asked water, they spat on it and gave him. They also tore his shirt. He was threatened at the union office that if filed a complaint would assault him again. Another student Abhishek was also beaten, asking him not to file a complaint with the police. The student said that he was attacked for nearly an hour.
