THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While speaking at the 'Vizhinjam Conclave 2025', MP Shashi Tharoor revealed the special factor that kept him in power in the capital city for 16 years. Tharoor’s quirky response came to a question from IAS Divya S Iyer at the VISL event.
‘What does it feel to ask people to vote for straight six times?”; This was the question from Divya S Iyer.
“Every time I campaign, asking for votes, I’m getting introduced to new voters; the recently turned 18 teens. In the last four times, I happened to meet many new voters and they helped me win. At one point, one voter even told me straight to my face that he first heard about me in his eighth standard, while I was still the MP of Thiruvananthapuram.
And there is the other voter base; the senior and middle-aged citizens. They continue to favour me in elections only for the development I have brought to the city. I used my connections to bring many developments to the capital city and it paved the way for my repeated success.” said Tharoor.
