CHERTHALA: Two more Chinese nationals have been arrested in the case of defrauding a doctor couple from Cherthala of Rs 7.5 crore through an online scam. The Gujarat police apprehended the international criminals, who were later taken into custody by the Kerala police. The suspects, identified as Wei Chung Wan and Shen Wei Ho, who reside in Taiwan, have been brought to Alappuzha.

The fraud involved promising exorbitant profits in the stock market, leading the doctor couple from Cherthala to lose more than Rs 7.5 crore. The scam took place last June, and five people, including individuals from other states, had already been arrested earlier. The first to be arrested were Kozhikode natives Muhammad Anas, Praveesh, and Abdul Samad. Based on the information obtained from them, Bhagwan Ram and Nirmal Jain from other states were subsequently arrested. The interrogation clearly revealed that the fraud was orchestrated from China. This led to the investigation to track down the Chinese nationals. The accused will be produced before the Cherthala court tomorrow.
