33-year-old Indian woman executed in UAE; family informed only after two weeks; sentence following death of four-month-old baby

NEW DELHI: An Indian woman has been sentenced to death in the UAE. Uttar Pradesh native Shahzadi Khan (33) was executed in a case related to the death of a four-month-old baby. She was in prison in the case. The execution took place on February 15. Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma told the Delhi High Court that the Indian Embassy was informed about the execution on February 28.

The father had approached the Delhi High Court to inquire about the condition of his daughter. An Abu Dhabi court sentenced her to death after the death of an Indian couple's child. Shehzadi Khan came to work in Abu Dhabi in 2021. She then worked in the Indian couple's house. The Ministry of External Affairs announced that she was provided with legal assistance in the case, including a mercy petition. The Ministry of External Affairs also stated that steps will be taken to repatriate Shahzadi's body.
