THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: During the Assembly speech, Speaker A.N. Shamseer made an unusual remark after turning off Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan's mic. He said to him to go out and say the rest of it there. The House, which was paralysed by the opposition's noise, which had started in the middle, quickly adjourned early. The verbal exchange grew heated when the Speaker warned against trying to intimidate him, while Satheeshan firmly stated he would only leave after expressing everything he had to say.
The unusual scenes occurred while Satheesan walked out in protest, demanding an emergency resolution notice taken in the ASHA issue. In Karnataka, on the directive of the Chief Minister, the Health Commissioner held talks with the protesters and announced an honorarium of Rs. 10,000 for the workers. The problems started when Satheesan demanded that the Chief Minister hold talks here in this model. When the Speaker said that the speech had taken too long and that the mic would be cut, Satheesan retorted that he would only leave after saying what he had to say. The Speaker said that he should respect the time limit. The speaker also said that he could go out and say the rest if he wants to continue.
Ignoring this, Satheesan continued his speech. The speaker said that if he did not stop, he would look for another way and move on to the next business. When Satheesan said that he would not agree to that and demanded that the Chief Minister hold a discussion, the Speaker said that this talk is over. However, Satheesan continued his speech, saying that it was not for the Speaker to decide. When he reached 10.56 minutes, his mic was turned off. Then K. Ansalan was invited.
With this, the opposition chanted slogans in front of the Speaker's podium. Banners and placards were raised demanding that the Speaker uphold justice, and the noise continued. The Speaker adjourned the house. The House will convene on Monday.
The Speaker behaves like an MLA who sits on the backbench and makes noise. He is undermining the seriousness of his position. - V.D. Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition
