Earlier, on Monday morning, he was taken off the ventilator following signs of recovery. A severe infection and mucus congestion worsened his condition. Doctors urgently cleared mucus from his lungs. According to hospital officials, the Pope remains conscious, as confirmed by the Vatican spokesperson. The spokesperson added that the Pope is fatigued but cooperating with the treatment.
