After denying permission to telecast the Malayalam movie MARCO on television channels, it is rumoured that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has started work to remove the movie from OTT platforms. CBFC decided on the move considering the brutal violence depicted in the movie. The central board accepted the recommendation of the regional examination committee.

Earlier, Nadeem Thufali, the Regional Officer of CBFC, asked parents to practice extreme caution in letting their children watch such movies. Nadeem said that MARCO, owing to its egregious portrayal of violence, is not fit to be screened on television channels. The regional officer has also asked for immediate central government intervention to stop Marco from streaming on OTT platforms.

Meanwhile, actor Unni Mukundan came defending the movie saying that the violence shown in the film was not even ten percent of what happening in the society.

MARCO producer Sharif Mohammed said that he will not make another violent film like MARCO. There was criticism of the film MARCO in the wake of the increasing violence among students and youth in the state. The response was in the wake of this.
