CHERTHALA: Police have registered a case against N.R. Seetha, the head teacher of Cherthala Town LP School, for financial fraud. She had prepared fake salary certificates and used them as collateral for her and her relative's chit and loans to commit fraud.

Three cases were registered following complaints filed by the managers of the KSFE Arthungal, Pattanakkad, and Cherthala evening branches. Seetha is the third accused. The certificate was used to receive a chit amount of Rs 3.24 lakhs belonging to her relative Vysakh in Arthungal. He is the first accused, and the temporary teacher of the school, a native of Thuravoor Valamangalam, is the second accused. The cases in Cherthala and Pattanakkad are similar. It is reported that the head teacher's arrest will be made soon.

The complaint states that she had prepared fake salary certificates of four teachers at the school and taken a loan of approximately Rs 30 lakhs. The Sub-District Education Officer also received a complaint that a loan of Rs 35 lakh was taken by forging documents in the names of parents and temporary employees of the same school.

The matter came to light when the salary certificate was presented to get a new loan of Rs 10 lakh at the KSFE Cherthala evening branch recently. The Town LP School PTA Committee also filed a complaint with the Cherthala police, alleging misappropriation of PTA funds. The Education Department conducted an internal investigation following complaints filed by the teachers and temporary teachers of the Govt. Town School.

The Cherthala Sub-District Education Officer visited the school and recorded the statements of the complaining teachers. The report will be submitted to the Education Officer today. The teacher has not attended the school since the fraud came to light.
