THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An elderly woman drowned in the Karamana River on Thursday. A search is ongoing to find her missing husband. Vasantha (75), a resident of Vattiyoorkavu Nethaji Road, Bose Lane NRRA 71, died in the incident. Fire force is searching for her husband, Natesan (83).

Vattiyoorkavu police doubt the incident to be a suicide. The couple, who were living with their youngest son, Sajeev, left the house around 11 pm on Thursday. According to the residents, they went missing from the Ayiravalli Tampuran Para Temple in Moonnamoodu around noon.

In the subsequent search conducted by the fire force team, the body of Vasanthakumari was found near the Elakkode church in Puliyarakonam at around 4 pm. The walker that Vasanthakumari used to assist in walking and Natesan's shirt were recovered from the river bank. The search for Natesan will continue today.
