MALAPPURAM: The police have registered the arrest of Edavanna native Rahim Aslam, who is in custody in connection with the missing girls in Tanur. He has been charged with kidnapping girls and stalking them on the phone. The police have recorded the statements of the girls. The children will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee. Then a decision will be made on whether to leave them with their families or to accommodate them somewhere else.

The young man met the girls through Instagram four months ago. They had come to Mumbai with the intention of going on a trip. The trip was planned by the trio. Rahim, who returned from Mumbai after learning that the police were following him, was taken into custody by the police from Tirur on Saturday. The police reached Tirur railway station with the girls found in Pune by noon today.

The girls were found at Lonavala station near Pune yesterday morning. A police team from Tanur then headed to Pune to bring them back. The footage from the beauty parlour in Mumbai, where the girls had gone for a haircut, was crucial in the investigation.
