BENGALURU: The number of aircraft owned by Air India Express has crossed 100. The flagging off of the 100th aircraft was performed by Air India Express Managing Director Aloke Singh in Bengaluru.

Earlier this month, Air India Express flagged off its 100th aircraft to the newly launched Hindon airport in Uttar Pradesh. Air India Express is the only airline operating from two airports in the national capital, Delhi and Hindon. Bengaluru is Air India Express's main hub with over 445 flights per week. The 100th aircraft features Chittara art, a traditional art style of Karnataka.

Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, said that the arrival of the 100th aircraft is a significant milestone in the growth and transformation of Air India Express. Within three years of privatisation, the airline has completed a number of major milestones, including a merger with another low-cost airline, more domestic, Gulf, and South Eastern routes, and the acquisition of more fuel-efficient and modern aircraft. He said that its strong presence in small towns and cities, which play a vital role in the growth of the country, is playing a crucial role in the growth of the Indian aviation sector.

Air India Express has seen rapid growth and innovation since its acquisition by the Tata Group in January 2022. Today, Air India Express has grown from 26 Boeing 737 NG and 28 A320 aircraft to 100 aircraft. As part of its rapid expansion, it has also launched flights to Bangkok, Dibrugarh, Dimapur, Hindon, Jammu, Patna, Phuket, and Port Blair (Sri Vijayapuram).

In addition to modern aircraft and more services, Air India Express offers services based on the concept of 'Fly as You Are,' such as gourmet meals, Express Business seats, accommodation, travel packages, and Express Holidays. Air India Express also has four different fares, including Express Lite, for passengers with cabin baggage only.

Each new Air India Express aircraft features tail arts that reflect India's diverse artistic heritage, including Kasav, Ajrak, Bandhani, Banarasi, Jaapi, Jamdani, Kalamkari, Kancheevaram, Kolam, and Warli. The Chithara art form on the 100th aircraft represents prosperity and celebration.
