THODUPUZHA: The police have opposed the bail application filed by Thodupuzha Chungam native Noby Lukose, the accused in the incident where his wife and daughters died by jumping in front of a train in Ettumanoor. The police argued in court that granting bail to Noby could lead to the destruction of crucial evidence and hinder the ongoing investigation. The Ettumanoor court had considered Noby's bail application yesterday.
The deceased are Shiny Kuriakose (43), her daughters Aleena (11) and Ivana (10). Noby was arrested shortly after the incident. The mobile phones of both Noby and Shiny are key pieces of evidence in the case, and their forensic analysis results are still pending. The Ettumanoor court is expected to rule on Noby’s bail application tomorrow.
In a separate development, the Knanaya Church has raised concerns over attempts to defame the Archdiocese, the diocesan bishop, and Caritas Hospital in connection with the incident. The church has filed a complaint with the Kottayam Superintendent of Police, urging action against the ongoing defamation campaigns. The church has also called for a comprehensive investigation into the deaths of Shiny and her children.
