THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary MV Govindan has dismissed the allegation that veteran leader VS Achuthanandan was removed from his position as a special invitee to the CPM state committee. In an interview with the party newspaper, Govindan clarified that VS will continue as a special invitee to the state committee. He added that the list of invitees will be published after the party's national conference, which will be held in Madurai.
Meanwhile, the protests that erupted within the CPM leadership following the state conference are yet to die down. Former minister and senior leader Kadakampally Surendran expressed his protest by changing the cover photo of his Facebook page. The new cover photo included the caption 'Closing session of the Nava Kerala March, February 15, 2016!' The image shows Kadakampally addressing a large gathering of party workers at the event. The addition of an exclamation mark in the caption is seen as politically significant by observers.
It was expected that Kadakampally would be appointed to the CPM state secretariat, but this did not happen. It must be noted that Kadakampally posted an image from 2016 at a time when the party is claiming that the recently concluded Kollam conference was a major success. Similar to the posts by A Padmakumar and N Sukanya, Kadakampally’s post has garnered significant attention.
