AMBALAPPUZHA: A woman and her daughter died after being hit by a train in Thakazhi, Alappuzha on Thursday. Panchayat employee Priya (46), a native of Thakazhi Kelamangalam ‘Vijay Nivas’, and her daughter Krishnapriya (15), a class 10 student, died in the incident. The initial findings have evoked doubts of suicide.

The incident took place near the Thakazhi Hospital level crossing at around 2 pm today. The duo arrived at the spot on a scooter. After parking the scooter on the road, they walked straight towards the railway track. The Alappuzha-Kollam passenger, that was passing by, rammed into them, killing the duo on the spot. Police investigation is ongoing and no suicide note or messages have been found yet.

A similar suicide death of a woman and her two daughters was reported in Ettumanoor, Kottayam last week. The incident grabbed a lot of attention, leaving many in shock.
