THRISSUR: The Enforcement Directorate issued a summons to CPM leader and MP K Radhakrishnan, asking him to appear for questioning in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud case.
He has been directed to appear for questioning at the ED office in Kochi. K Radhakrishnan was the CPM Thrissur district secretary when the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud came to light.
The ED informed the High Court the other day about a large-scale black money transaction that is taking place centered around cooperative banks in the state. In addition to Karuvannur Bank, an investigation is underway against 18 cooperative institutions, including those in Mavelikara and Kandala.
The ED had earlier questioned the current district secretary in the case. The ED is in the final stages of the investigation in the Karuvannur case. The officials will question Radhakrishnan ahead of preparing the final chargesheet in the case. Meanwhile, Radhakrishnan has not responded on whether he will appear for questioning or not.
