CHITTUR: The Kozhinjampara police have arrested two individuals in connection with a honey trap robbery centered around a house in Kallandichalla, Kozhinjampara. The accused have been identified as Maimuna (44), a resident of Manjeri, and S. Sreejesh (24) from Kuttippallam Parakkal. The victim, an astrologer from Kollengode, was lured into the trap under false pretenses.

According to the police, Maimuna and an accomplice visited the astrologer’s residence on Tuesday, claiming she was separated from her husband and required a ritual to resolve her issues. She persuaded him to perform the ritual at her house. The following day, around 11 AM, the astrologer arrived in Kozhinjampara, where he was escorted to the residence of N. Pratheesh (37), a man with multiple criminal charges, including murder, against him.

As the ritual preparations began, Pratheesh allegedly made lewd remarks before forcibly taking the astrologer into a room, where he was assaulted and stripped. Maimuna then entered the room naked, and the gang captured photographs and videos of them together. The perpetrators then robbed him of his 4.5-sovereign gold chain, mobile phone, and Rs 2,000 in cash. They then demanded Rs 20 lakh, threatening to release the compromising visuals on social media and to his family if he failed to comply.

Seizing an opportunity when the accused stepped outside, the astrologer managed to escape through the back door.

The case came to light when Chittur police were in the area searching for another suspect related to an altercation that took place on Sunday. While tracking the suspect’s mobile location, officers noticed individuals fleeing from a house. A woman fell onto the road, and when questioned by locals, she responded with obscene language, arousing suspicion. This led to the unearthing of the honey trap scheme.

Kozhinjampara police have confirmed that a total of nine individuals, including Maimuna and another woman, are involved in the crime. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
