Hotel attacked for less gravy; owner sustains serious injuries

ALAPPUZHA: A three-member gang attacked a hotel for less gravy served in the parcel. Three including the owner and his relatives were attacked. The injured were Mohammed Uwais (37) of Thamarakkulam and the owner of Bukhari hotel in Thamarakkulam Junction, his elder brother Mohammed Noushad (43) and his mother-in-law Rejila (47).


Uwais suffered serious head injuries after hit with a spatula. They have been admitted to Adoor Taluk Hospital. The gang, which arrived on a scooter at around 5 pm yesterday, had bought parotta, beef fry and gravy. They came again at around 6:30, barged into the shop and unleashed violence for less gravy in the parcel.


Uwais, who had come to the shop after offering prayers, was beaten on his head and body with a spatula. When his brother tried to intervene, he was also attacked. The attackers smashed the glass of the counter in front of the shop. The Nooranad police have intensified search for the accused.
