THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mother of Afaan, accused in the Venjaramoodu mass killings that shook Kerala, was discharged from the hospital the other day. Shemi, who was in a critical condition in the hospital, was not initially informed about her younger son’s death and that her elder son was behind it. Afaan's father Abdul Rahim later told her everything. The events that happened in their lives are similar to an action film.
Rahim has now responded to the media. Rahim had earlier said that he does not want to see Afaan. Rahim said that the loss suffered due to his son is great and that he is relieved on his wife’s recovery. He said that his wife did not believe when said about the murders committed by Afaan. Rahim said with sadness that Shemi asked how Afaan, who was afraid of even a cockroach, committed these cruel acts.
'Don’t know what to do now due to the financial issues. After spending two days in jail in Saudi Arabia, returned home without a single penny. Not going back to the Gulf again. Lived for children and now they are not there. Has a liability of Rs 10 lakh in the Gulf. To my knowledge, has a liability of Rs 10 lakh here too. Don't know about the claim of having a debt of Rs 60 lakh.
Has a liability in the bank. Shemi has to give Rs 75,000 to my brother in connection with a chitty. Did not have any financial transactions with my mother. He said that his wife Shemi and Afaan had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from a relative in Thattathumala on interest. Paid Rs 5.5 lakh as interest only. If the interest was not paid on time, would call and threaten them. Afaan had planned to kill them.
Don’t want to see Afaan anymore. I lost my younger son, mother, brother and his wife because of him. My mother loved Afaan very much. When he visited her, she used to give him money. My mother raised my two children with great love. I had spoken to Afaan on the days before the murders.
I had told him that we could clear all debts by selling our property. He had brought many to buy our property. Asked him when came to know about Farsana. He first lied to me. I had told him that if he likes her, he can marry her after getting a job. My younger son sent me the photo of Farsana. I want to go to her house and meet her parents. My son committed the mistake. I don’t know how they will react.
Afaan was very fond of his younger brother Afsan. I returned after six long years. Afsan was raised fondly. Afaan used to take him for bike rides and used to buy him his favourite food. Still, I don’t know why he did this, said Rahim.
