MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and world leaders including US President Donald Trump for their efforts to resolve the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Putin said they have spent a lot of time working for the great goal of ending hostilities and saving human lives. He also thanked the presidents of countries like China, Brazil and South Africa. This was while addressing the media on the US ceasefire proposal.
Modi had said during his previous meeting with Putin that the conflict in Ukraine should end and that this was not an era of war, and that this has been the position of various countries. India had also reiterated in world forums that it was on the side of peace and that the conflict should be resolved through diplomatic means. Modi had also had several phone conversations with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He also visited both countries.
