One more student held in ganja raid in Kalamassery Polytechnic College Hostel

KOCHI: One more student of Government Polytechnic College in Kalamassery has been arrested in the case of seizure of ganja from the hostel. The arrested is Anuraj, a third-year student, who supplied ganja to the hostel. Anuraj is from Kollam. He was taken into custody by the police last night. The police will examine his financial transactions. The other accused had given statements to the police that it was Anuraj, who supplied the ganja. With this, six have been arrested in the case.

Meantime, more information has emerged in the incident of seizure of ganja from the hostel. The police said that there is a joint drug trade going on in the Kalamassery hostel. The police investigation found that the students taking drugs in the hostel are a gang and that student organizations do not have any influence inside the hostel. A large bundle of beedis were also found in the hostel room. The students have given statements to the police that they smoke ganja after filling it in beedis.


A decision to conduct joint inspections at all suspicious places was taken in the meet of police and excise officials convened under the chairmanship of Manoj Abraham. Information about drug distributors, sellers and carriers will be exchanged. Police will be present at excise check posts. Phones of drug dealers will be tapped.

A portal will also be set up to provide information about the sale of drugs. The decision was taken at the meeting attended by excise commissioner, IGs, DIGs, SPs and excise officials.
