Tirurkad accident: Shanfa passes away, following Sreenanda; injured undergoing treatment

MALAPPURAM: A young woman who was undergoing treatment after a collision between a KSRTC bus and a lorry in Perinthalmanna has died. The deceased has been identified as Shanfa (20), a native of Vandoor. The young woman succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna. Shanfa had suffered serious head injuries in the accident. Shanfa is the daughter of Koorikundu Parancherry Noushad. The young woman's funeral will be held at the Pallikkunnu Juma Masjid in Vandoor after the postmortem.

The accident occurred in Perinthalmanna at around 5:30 pm yesterday. The KSRTC bus, which was going from Kozhikode to Palakkad, collided with an oncoming lorry. The accident took place near the Tirurkkad ITC. Sreenanda (21), daughter of Haridas Warrier of Ariyaur Cheruvallur Wariyam, Mannarkkad, died yesterday. Sreenanda was a final year BCA student at Mannarkkad College. The accident occurred while she was returning from Kozhikode for a project.

Ten people were injured in the accident. One side of the bus was completely damaged by the impact. The lorry also overturned on the road. About ten people sitting on one side of the bus were injured. The locals initially carried out the rescue operation. The injured are being treated at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna. The police are investigating the accident.
