KOCHI: A woman was seriously injured in a goon attack in Kochi on Monday. Vallarpadam fish farm owner Paul Peter’s wife Vinny was roughed up by masked goons the other day. She was attacked with an iron rod. Vinny, with serious injuries to her head, and fracture in her hands, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ernakulam.
The attack occurred around 11 pm on Sunday when she was returning home from the shrimp farm. Peter had gone to pick up supplies from another farm nearby. Vinny was standing near her vehicle when three men with faces covered approached her. Frightened at the sight, Vinny tried to take a photo of them on her phone which triggered assault. According to Peter, Vinny fell on the ground following the assault but the beatings continued.
As of now, Vinny went through 12 stitches on her forehead, her hands are fractured while examinations are ongoing to see if she suffered a broken rib. Peter admitted to having issues right from the moment he took ownership of the farm. Installing CCTV cameras and lights in the area invited the ire of residents here.
According to Peter, a local leader even issued death threats and filed a police complaint against him. The Mulavukad police have registered a case and started investigating the incident.
