16-year-old boy molested in Bathery; teacher arrested

BATHERY: Teacher arrested for same sex sexual harassment of school student. Bathery police have arrested Jayesh, a native of Chundakuzhy, Perumbavoor, Ernakulam. He had repeatedly abused a 16-year-old boy from a school under Sultan Bathery police station limits. The incident came to light when the students were undergoing counselling. When other teachers were not present, the 16-year-old boy was taken to the room where Jayesh was staying and was abused several times. The incident happened in September 2024.

Meanwhile, the police arrested a man who had been drugging a minor girl in Kottakkal, Malappuram and abusing her for years. Alungal Abdul Gafoor (23), a native of Vengara Cherur, was arrested by the police under sections including POCSO. The girl's complaint states that the harassment, which began in 2020 when she was a Plus One student, continued until March 2025. The accused seduced the girl, whom he met through Instagram, by pretending that he in in love with her. The accused, who took nude photos of the girl, also stole her gold ornaments. The girl filed a complaint with the police after she recovered from her addiction following treatment. The accused was arrested by the Kottakkal police. The police seized the accused's phone.
