Not even Police safe from drug users; SI attacked by duo, jeep window smashed

NEMOM: Two men attacked an SI during a vehicle inspection. One of them broke the window of the jeep when they were taken to the Nemom police station. The police said that both were under the influence of drugs. The Nemom police arrested two people, including a murder suspect, in connection with the incident. The incident took place at Pappanamcode junction at around 12 o'clock on Sunday night. Two men on a bike attacked the control room police team that was conducting a vehicle inspection. The police arrested Praveen (19) aka Sreekuttan of Karimadom Colony, and Sarath (18), a native of Kudappanakunnu, Peroorkada. Praveen is an accused in several cases, including a murder case.

After the argument with the control room police, the two of them assaulted the SI and entered a nearby food stall. After they created a ruckus there too, the Nemom police also reached the spot and put the two of them in a jeep and took them to the police station. While they were getting out of the jeep, one of the accused smashed the window of the police jeep with his hand. The accused, who had injured his hand, was initially taken to the Santhivila Taluk Hospital, but after the accused became more violent, he was taken to the Medical College Hospital. The police said that the accused verbally abused and tried to assault the bystanders and patients at Medical College Hospital. A case has been registered for assaulting a police officer and destroying public property. The accused have been remanded.
