KOLLAM: The chilling murder of a college student in Kollam has left the residence in Uliyakovil speechless. The victim was identified as Febin George Gomez (21), the resident of ‘Flori dale’ in Matruka Nagar, Uiyakovil.
Tejas Raju (22), the accused in the case, committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. He is a resident of Puthenthura Neendakara. Febin was a second-year B. Com student at Fatima Mata College, Kollam. Tejas Raju is the son of Grade SI Raju at Kollam distrct crime branch office.
As per police, Tejas wanted to marry Febin’s sister but was repeatedly shown the door. The repeated denial from the family turned into sheer anger which resulted in the crime on Monday night. Tejas Raju, who arrived near Febin's house in a white Wagon R car, waited for a while and then returned. At around 6.45 pm, he returned to Febin’s house wearing a purdah and rang the bell.
Tejas tried to attack Febin who opened the door but witnessed resistance from the youngster. Soon after, he subdued Febin with strength and stabbed him in his chest twice. He even threw petrol on the floor. Febin’s father, who tried to help his son also got stabbed. Febin, who ran outside, collapsed on the road 20 meters away. Tejas, who escaped in the car, jumped in front of a train near the Chemmanmukku ROB at around 7.30 and committed suicide.
The locals rushed Febin to the district hospital, but he was pronounced dead. The cause of death was a wound to the liver. The body of Tejas was found torn to shreds. Both the bodies are kept at the district hospital morgue. Daisy is Febin’s mother and Flory is his sister.
