Drunk men lying on railway track escape unhurt as train passes over

KOCHI: Two drunk men sleeping on a railway track had a miraculous escape. The train stopped and rescued them. The incident happened between Aluva and Angamaly. Two were seen lying on the tracks when the Shalimar Express passed by. The train stopped and shifted the two from the tracks.

The incident happened last night. The Shalimar Express was moving forward after passing Aluva station. The train was moving slowly. Meanwhile, the loco pilots saw two people lying on the tracks. The loco pilots said that they tried to stop the train, but it moved forward about five meters and the engine passed over them. The loco pilots then came out and asked the two to come out. The two then came out on their own.


The two did not sustain any injuries. The loco pilots said they had drunk too much. Liquor bottles were found on the tracks. The names of the two are not clear. The railways informed that a case has been registered against the two for lying on the railway tracks in a dangerous situation.
