KOZHIKODE: It has come to light that Shibila, who was killed by her husband Yasir in Engapuzha, was aware of her husband's drug use even before their marriage. Shibila's family had opposed the relationship after learning about Yasir's drug addiction. Despite this, Shibila went ahead and married Yasir in 2020.

"She was a girl who set out with him after brushing away her father's hands. Yasir was someone who constantly tormented girls. Her family had warned her not to go with him. Now, his knife has ended her life," locals said.

The horrific murder that shocked Thamarassery took place at around 7 pm yesterday. The deceased is Engapuzha Kakkad native Shibila (21). Her husband Yasir was arrested by the police later in the night. Yasir arrived at Shibila's house at the time of breaking the Ramzan fasting and attacked her while she was having food. He stabbed her in the neck, right in front of their 3-year-old daughter.

The post-mortem report states that the deep wound on Shibila's neck was the cause of death. The report also mentions two deep wounds on her neck and a total of 11 injuries on her body. The accused confessed to the police that his target was his wife’s father, Abdurrahman. He believed that it was Abdurrahman who separated Shibila from him. Yasir had bought a new knife specifically to kill Abdurrahman. but he did not intend to kill his wife. He told the police that he was very much in love with her. Yasir was not under the influence of drugs during the attack.
