RAIPUR: Security forces neutralized 30 Maoists in two places in Chhattisgarh on Thursday. Encounters took place on the Bijapur-Dantewada district border and in Kanker. 18 were killed in Bijapur and four in Kanker. A reserve force member died in the encounter.

The encounter carried out by BSF and DRG personnel has been going on in the region since morning and now the number of Maoist causalities reached 30. Security forces also announced that a large cache of weapons was recovered from the killed Maoist members.

In an encounter in Chhattisgarh in February, 31 Maoists were killed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had then vowed to eradicate Maoist presence in the state by March 2026. Since then, encounter operations have been rampant in the region and it is likely to continue in the coming days.
