The ‘Empuraan’ wave has reached Kerala, with tickets for the release day almost getting sold just hours after the booking started on Friday morning. As per reports, around one lakh tickets were sold in the first hour of booking on Friday through Book My Show app, a new record for Indian cinema.
Empuraan has broken the records of Vijay's film 'Leo' and Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2'. There were reports that even the online ticket sales site Book My Show’s server faced an outage at one point on Friday.
A video is going viral on social media, showing fans running amok into the theatre after the bookings started for Empuraan. The video was purportedly taken from Thrissur Ragam theatre. A mammoth cutout of actor Mohanlal can be seen in the video.
Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. The film will be released in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu languages. Mohanlal plays the lead role of Qureshi-Abraam / Stephen Nedumpally.
