Parvathy Vijay became well-known to Malayalees through her lead roles in popular soap operas. Parvathy is the sister of actress Mridula Vijay. Recently, Parvathy went through a divorce from cinematographer Arun. Both of them have been living separately for the past 11 months.

With comments and criticism mounting, the actress came forward to explain how her marriage fell apart.

Parvathy Vijay:

“I was having a great time in serials when marriage came my way all of a sudden. I stopped work soon. I regret that decision as I believe I could have achieved far greater success in serial if not for my marriage.

After three months of dating, we decided to marry. People advised me to wait as they said three months were too short to make such a big decision. Some even warned me of immediate danger but I gave no ears. Alas, my marriage ended in ruins, like what many presaged. I decided to marry without even informing my sister. It couldn’t have gone more wrong. I was just 21 at the time of my marriage.

Initially, my sister didn’t call me but soon when I decided to come out of marriage, my family held me close. I am lucky because my family stood by me despite me hurting them.

Marriage demands certain adjustments and if those efforts prove futile, it is best to part ways. Arun is my former partner and the father of my child. My relationship with him is now a closed chapter which I don’t want to open again”
