THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan has intensified his criticism against the protest being held by ASHA workers in front of the Secretariat. He alleged that the agitation is being driven by those pursuing an anti-government political agenda. M.V. Govindan said that the protest, organized by SUCI, Jamaat-e-Islami, SDPI, and certain media groups using ASHA workers, will be exposed politically.
"The ASHA workers have the democratic right to protest. However, media and bourgeois political organizations are trying to turn it into an anti-Left agitation. INTUC is not part of this protest. However, UDF and BJP are backing it from behind. A proper rainbow alliance has been formed as part of this. The media is also with them," Govindan said.
Govindan also highlighted that Kerala is the state that pays ASHA workers the highest wages, yet such a protest is happening here. "Now, the ball is in the Central Government’s court. If they make a clear decision, the state will do everything possible," he added.
