There are only a few days left for the release of Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj and starring Mohanlal in the lead. The film's all-India advanced booking began on March 21 at 9 am. The film had created a record yesterday by selling nearly one lakh tickets through the Book My Show app within an hour of the booking. Discussions about the budget of Empuraan had also made news earlier, and questions were raised on social media about the remuneration of Mohanlal and Prithviraj for the film. Now, what director Prithviraj said about Mohanlal's remuneration is gaining attention.
"It is not a Rs 100 crore film where Rs 80 crore was spent on remunerations and the film is made for Rs 20 crore. It is not that. Every single penny that could be spent on making the film has been spent on making the film. Mohanlal sir and myself, we have not taken a single rupee from this film," said Prithviraj.
However, the director was not ready to reveal the budget of the film. Producer Antony Perumbavoor also did not comment on the budget.
Empuraan is produced by Subhaskaran, Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under the banners of Lyca Productions, Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies. The film, which will be released pan-Indian in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada, is written by Murali Gopi.
