KOTHAMANGALAM: Varapetti Grama Panchayat has announced an incentive of Rs 1500 per month for ASHA workers in the village. There are 13 ASHA workers. Rs 5 lakh has been allocated in the budget for this. The decision of the Congress-ruled panchayat comes when ASHA workers have been protesting in front of the secretariat for 41 days, including for an increase in incentives.
Another announcement in the budget is that a model MCF (centres that collect including plastic) will be set up in the panchayat in connection with the Waste-Free Kerala campaign. Rs 1 crore has been allocated for this. Vice President Bindu Sasi presented the budget with an expected income of Rs 29 crore 15 lakh and an expenditure of Rs 28 crore 29 lakh.
