Acid attack on woman who came to hospital; ex-husband surrenders to police

KOZHIKODE: An incident of an acid attack on a woman who came to the Ayurveda Hospital in Cheruvannur has been reported. Prabisha, a native of Balusheri, was injured in the attack. The police arrested her ex-husband Prashanth, a native of Balusheri, in the incident. The incident took place around 9:30 this morning. The woman suffered burns on her face and chest. The hospital staff who witnessed the incident rescued the woman.

Prabisha was then admitted to the Taluk Hospital in Perambra. She has now been shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for specialist treatment. Prabisha and Prashanth have been living separately for three years. The accused poured acid on her body while the woman was talking. Prashanth, who escaped from the scene, reached the Meppayur police station and surrendered. The police are investigating.
