THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Outgoing BJP state chief K Surendran said he was certain to relinquish his post at the end of the term and ruled out rumours of having intention to continue in the post. Surendran's comment comes amidst Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s official ascend to power as BJP state president on Monday.
K SURENDRAN:
“Don’t underestimate Rajeev. He is a seasoned politician who is fit enough to lead the party. CPM-BJP's unholy nexus is mere allegations spread by UDF for political gains. UDF fears the chances of the BJP emerging as the second alternative in Kerala, throwing them out as opposition.
I only had two and a half years to make the organization active, due to the pandemic. According to party custom, every BJP leader, who had completed their five-year term as party president used to relinquish the post. I'm emulating them. The media debate and ambiguity over the BJP party chief speaks volumes of the rising leadership qualities among party workers in the state. Like in all parties, we had our share of differences from within. Everything has been resolved and there exists no dilemma.
MT Ramesh, Shobha Surendran and others were eligible for the post of president. The names of six leaders were considered and later came the final decision.”
