Car accident on the way home from airport: Tragic death for Malayali female doctor from Dubai

KOLLAM: A Malayali woman doctor who had come from Dubai died in a car accident while on her way home from the airport. The deceased is Dr. Bindu Philip (48), wife of the late Aji P. Varghese of Vadakkekkara house in Chandanappally, Pathanamthitta. The car driver, Biju George, was injured.

The accident took place at around 5:30 am on the MC Road in Kottarakkara, Valakom, Kampamcodu. The car was on its way home from Thiruvananthapuram Airport. The car lost control and hit the divider on the side of the road and overturned with a loud noise. It is believed that the driver fell asleep. Dr. Bindu Philip and Biju George were pulled out with great difficulty. They were then taken to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, but Dr. Bindu Philip's life could not be saved.

Dr. Bindu joined Dubai New Medical Center Hospital as a gynaecologist six years ago. Before that, she worked at Chayalode Private Medical College, private hospitals in Konni and Adoor, and Chandanappally PHC. Her husband Aji passed away two years ago. This time, she returned home with the desire to complete the construction of her house, but fate took Bindu away before she could reach home.

Her daughter Angelina is a Media and Communication student in Dubai and her son Venus is an MBBS student at SUT Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. The body was shifted to the private hospital morgue in Edathitta. The funeral will be held at 10.30 am on Wednesday at Chandanapally St. George Orthodox Valiyapally Cemetery.
