KOZHIKODE: Another international flight service which is a great blessing for the expatriates of Malabar, is all set to leave Karipur. The service of Gulf Air, which operates from Kozhikode to Bahrain and Doha, is being terminated. The last service will be on March 31. With this, a service that lasted for seven years is leaving Karipur.
Air India was the first to withdraw services from Karipur Airport. Gulf Air has now become the third company to leave Karipur. Gulf Air explains that it is withdrawing services from Kozhikode as part of the restructuring of services. However, passengers are asking why a profitable service that has been operating is being terminated. Gulf Air's new decision is a real blow to the expatriates. Compared to other services, low fares, food and punctual service were the specialty of Gulf Air.
Gulf Air started Kozhikode-Bahrain-Doha service in June 2018. The company operated as a connection service to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Jeddah and Europe. The plane, which can carry 159 passengers, was full. Earlier, Air India had suspended flights from Kozhikode airport to Sharjah, Dubai, Jeddah and Riyadh. Three months ago, Saudi Air had also withdrawn from Kozhikode service.
