KOZHIKODE: The statement of Prasanth, who threw acid on the face of his ex-wife Pravisha in Cheruvannur, has come out. According to Prasanth, his intention was to disfigure Pravisha's face with acid. He said that he decided to pour acid on her after he failed to make her stay with him. The accused also stated that he had tested the acid beforehand.

Initially, he tried pouring acid on his own hand to see if it would cause the skin to burn. Realizing it would cause severe burns, he decided to carry out the attack. He initially planned to have his eldest son do it, but the child refused. Subsequently, Prasanth himself went to the hospital where Pravisha was receiving treatment and asked if she could come with him. When she refused, he took the acid from his vehicle and poured it on her body. Prasanth claimed that he had bought the acid from a shop in Meppayur.

The acid attack took place around 9:30 AM on Sunday at the Cheruvannur Government Ayurvedic Hospital, where Pravisha, 29, was undergoing treatment. She suffered severe burns to her face, chest, and body and is now being treated in the intensive care unit at Kozhikode Medical College. Pravisha's family has stated that Prasanth is a drug addict.
