SRINAGAR: Three police officers lost their lives in an intense encounter in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. The martyred officers have been identified as Tariq Ahmad, Jaswant Singh, and Balwinder Singh. Security forces, in a joint operation, neutralized three terrorists during the gunfight. Five police personnel sustained injuries in the encounter, with reports indicating that some are in critical condition.
The anti-terror operation in the region has been ongoing for the past five days. The encounter began when security forces spotted terrorists in Jakhole, Rajbagh.
On Sunday morning, security personnel detected terrorist movement approximately 30 kilometers from Hiranagar. Officials confirmed that additional forces have been deployed, and the gunfight is still ongoing. It is believed that the same group of terrorists was involved in an earlier clash with security forces on Sunday, during which a young girl was also injured.
