NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai met senior leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in Delhi. Reports suggest that Amit Shah summoned Annamalai as part of efforts to revive the alliance with AIADMK ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. A few days ago, Amit Shah had held discussions with AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife that if AIADMK re-joins the NDA, Annamalai might be removed from the post of Tamil Nadu BJP President. However, no details of Annamalai’s meeting with Amit Shah have been disclosed. Annamalai also held discussions with Union Fisheries Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, reportedly regarding Tamil Nadu’s demands. BJP’s former Tamil Nadu chief and Union Minister L. Murugan also participated in these discussions.
Annamalai was spotted at the Delhi airport wearing a black mask. When asked about the alliance, he told the media that he had nothing to comment on. Meanwhile, in Chennai, Edappadi K. Palaniswami responded by saying that he had no knowledge of Annamalai’s visit to Delhi.
