PALAKKAD: A fine of Rs 5000 has been imposed on the owner of the tractor, driven by former BJP state president K Surendran during electioneering. The Palakkad Traffic Enforcement Department imposed the fine after finding that Surendran does not have a license to drive the tractor.
When the by-election campaigning was in full swing in Palakkad, the then state president K Surendran held a tractor rally for BJP candidate C Krishna Kumar against the anti-farmer policies of the Left government. Surendran came for the tractor rally driving the tractor.
Fazal Mohammed of Sreemoola Nagaram in Ernakulam and SFI Ernakulam district secretary, had filed a complaint with the then Palakkad SP R Anand last November. The traffic enforcement department found the vehicle and collected a fine from the owner.
The complainant said that he is not satisfied with the police action and that action should be taken against the BJP state president, who should be a role model for the society, for driving a tractor without a license. He said that he will move forward demanding further action against K Surendran.
